GEORGIA GROWN SYSTEM OF DISTINCTION The Bibb County School District is one of three school systems statewide to received recognition from the Georgia Department of Agriculture. This award was established to recognize nutrition directors and schools fro being the "first to the plate" on developing superior farm-to-school programs on the state and national level. The District's School Nutrition Program received this award for offering first-rate insight, abundant student involvement and stellar farm-to-school events. PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARD FOR SCHOOL CAREER Southwest High School Senior Timonte Lee was honored for having perfect attendance during his entire 13 year school career. He attended 2,340 days of school without one absence. JOE RICHARDSON AWARD WINNER FOR 2016 The Principal's Center at Georgia State University in Atlanta named Westside High School principal Dr. Julia Daniely as the 2016 Joe Richardson Award Winner for outstanding work. Dr. Daniely has been principal at Westside High School since 2012. STUDENT MEDIA FESTIVAL Student Media Festival winners who placed at the District level went on to compete at the state level. The annual festival allows students to who an audience their work, have their work critiqued by a panel of judges. Media projects can include video, website, design, animation, and photography. All middle schools compete in two practice rounds and the semi-finals competition. The five winning teams in the semi-finals compete for a chance at the championship match. This year's Bibb County Quiz Bowl Championship team was from Ballard-Hudson Middle School. Team members inlcude: Stantagious Alford, Channing Byrd, Summer Hod, Jasmine Martin, Eduardo Montero, Altanese Palmer, and Alatron Palmer.
