Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation Ingram-Pye Elementary School received the second place Community Greening Award for its community garden from the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation. This state award recognizes the efforts of a group to improve, beautify, and preserve the quality of life in a community. The Ingram-Pye Community Garden was a project initiated by a grant from the Arthur W. Perdue Foundation and a collaborative effort among United Way of Central Georgia, Leadership Macon's Class of 2014, and the District. Dr. Pam Carswell, President of Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful, presented the school with its award. Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL) Jennifer Mellor, Director of Special Education, was honored with the 2016 Exemplary Service Award for the Georgia Council of Administrators of Special Education during the GAEL Winter Conference. Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals The Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals named Westside High School Principal Dr. Julia Daniely as a finalist for Principal of the Year. Dr. Daniely has been the principal at Westside High School since 2012.No recorded vote.

One Vision/One Macon Business Education Partnership (BEP) Dr. West, representative to BEP, gave Board members an overview of the February meeting. The group received presentations on the District's CTAE Department and PBIS.The group also wanted to develop ways to promote and market the good things happening in the District. GSBA Legislative Delegate Mr. Downey highlighted the GSBA Capitol Watch newsletter which keeps school board members informed on legislation related to education and school boards. He will also attend Macon Day at the Capitol and would pass along any questions and concerns to the local legislative delegation. ESPLOST Liaison Mr. Hudson will serve as the Board liaison to the ESPLOST Oversight Committee. The next meeting of the committee will be in March and he will provide an update at the regular March Board meeting.No recorded vote.
