Recognition of Outgoing Board of Education Members The District recognized four Board of Education members who will be completing their tenures of service on December 31, 2020. These individuals have served through times of celebration and challenge, and the District owes much of its success to their hard work and dedication. The outgoing Board of Education members recognized were the following: - Ella M. Styles Carter, District 1 - 12 years of service - Susan K. Sipe, District 3 - 12 years of service - Lester M. Miller, District 4, 8 years of service - Robert M. Easter, District 6, 4 years of service 2021 AASA Women in School Leadership Award Finalist For the second time in three years, Dr. Tanzy Kilcrease has been selected as a national finalist for the AASA, The School Superintendents Association Women in School Leadership Awards. Dr. Kilcrease, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, is a finalist in the Central Office & Principal category. The winner will be announced in February 2021. Georgia STEM Certification The Georgia Department of Education has selected about 75 schools and programs for certification in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, also known as STEM Certification. This process seeks to identify schools that have committed to preparing students for future career opportunities in high-demand and lucrative STEM fields. Recently, Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School earned STEM Certification after an extensive evaluation and interview process. Alexander II is the first Bibb County school to reach this milestone.No recorded vote.
