Regional Science Fair First Place Winners The Board of Education recognized students who won first-place honors at the regional science fair. - Academy for Classical Education: Aman Boricha-Masand, who also advanced to the state level. - Alexander II Math and Science Magnet School: Madeline Cooke, Hannah Denny, Julia Byron, Keon Johnson and Joshua Felton. - Burdell-Hunt Magnet School: Jeannya Merritt-Heard, Thomas Rutland and Jeremy Wiggins. - Heard Elementary School: Marleigh Williams. - Heritage Elementary School: Chase Crowder, Donald Williams and David Garnett. - McKibben Lane Elementary School: Jihanna Redding and Amirah Simmons. - Porter Elementary: Vance Hinton and Douglas Deal. - Skyview Elementary School: Wesley Strickland and Sydney Andrews. - Springdale Elementary School: Luna Santamarina and Sabrina Ali. - Rosa Taylor Elementary School: Riley Clark. - Veterans Elementary Schoo: Bobby L. Technology Competition First Place Winners The technology competition allows students to showcase the skills and knowledge they’ve honed inside and outside the classroom. National History Day National History Day is an academic competition in which students conduct extensive research on a historical topic of their choice based on the year’s theme. National History Bee The District had numerous students from various schools and grade levels compete in local competitions for the National History Bee. Of that group, 17 advanced to the regional history bee and seven qualified for the National History Bee itself, which will begin on June 1 in Atlanta. •Miller Fine Arts Magnet Middle School: Destiny Butts, Jacob Solomon, Ja’Miya Chappell, Morgan Daniel, Henry Jennings and Wilson Bridges, with Destiny Butts, Jacob Solomon, Henry Jennings, and Wilson Bridges all qualifying for the National History Bee. - Springdale Elementary School: Michael John Brand, Ayla Peavy, Annalise Williams, Liam Parks, Isabella Douglas and Joshua Threlkeld, with Michael John Bland advancing to the National History Bee. - Vineville Academy of the Arts: Kyle Hicks, Isaiah Ford-Patterson, Janelle Sealey, Wyatt Roberson-Gavet, Oliver Jennings, and Joshua Bryson, with Kyle Hicks and Isaiah FordPatterson advancing to the National History Bee. District Quiz Bowl Team Quiz Bowl competitions allow elementary school students the opportunity to showcase their quickthinking skills as well as their knowledge base. Each year, students compete against each other to crown a District champion. This year, the team from Vineville Academy of the Arts came out on top. This team was composed of Dylan Grose, Kyle Hicks, Oliver Jennings, Robert Le, Mary Katherine Lewis, Joi Thompson and Kamourie Wright.No recorded vote.
